As Aesop was slowly losing his mind, his music was at its' peak. This album is certainly his tour-DE-force, and is one of the greatest hip hop albums I've listened to. His shenanigans never get old and his rhymes never get sold, so that's just some more gold for his old mold. The shit.

Electric Wizard - Dopethrone - 2000

Out of the depths of the forest comes the Stoner Metal band Electric Wizard. It feels as forgiving as uninviting and brash. The melody is deep and almost translucent with the riffs and drums. Jus Oborn struggles to gain vocal significance and succeeds. Overall; spectacular.

Aesop Rock - Music for Earthworms - 1997

Aesop Rock's seminal LP named after, what this reviewer would assume, is his favorite animal; earthworms. The beats get funky and his lyrics stay jet black. Aesop Rock also shows the viewer that he's a good sport by giving a few verses to a radio station. Overall, considering it was only released via CD-R, the album is an extremely good first offering, and still one of Aesop Rock's best releases.

Radiohead- Hail to the Thief- 2003

This is Radiohead's sixth studio album and actually my second favorite, 'In Rainbows' just happens to be my first but overall Radiohead is one of the best bands that have been established in the last 20 years.  'Hail to the Thief' has so many elements flowing about that it creates a very interesting listening experience.  There There(The Boney King of Nowhere) is one of the prettiest songs I've in sometime and the video for it is fantastic.

Einstein's Bicycle- Intelligence is not Knowledge; Imagination is Intelligence- 2010

Einstein's Bicycle is an electronic/ experimental solo project performed by Eyenstein, who is also one of the co-founders of The Dead Flower at Nine.  This small E.P. mixes dubstep, electronic, noise, ambient genres into one.  The five songs that are featured will begin you on the journey for what is to come up next.  Currently Einstein's Bicycle is unsigned.

Dead Meadow- Shivering King and Others-2003

Dead Meadow is a Neo-Psychedelia or more simply put Psychedelic Rock band that started in 1998. This album, 'Shivering King and Others' is just fucking phenomenal. The guitar riffs will pierce through the brain, creating illusions that take the listener on a trip that they have never been on. A lot of the riffs remind of early Black Sabbath. The drums played by Mark Laughlin sync the music perfectly creating a total immersion into the music. Overall, this album is amazing for anyone who enjoys blues, psychedelic rock, or to sum it up best, anyone who can enjoy great fucking music.

Arovane - Lilies - 2004

This is the kind of music that makes you just want to forget you are alive, and simply exist.
The album is titled perfectly, for it is centered around beauty, and it hits the nail on the head. Arovane has yet to release another album after this 2004 release, and perhaps that is because he simply doesn't need to. It's as if the listener is being rushed past thousands of lilies, flowing organically with them. This intense imagery and feeling is what makes this work so gorgeous.

Throbbing Gristle- D.o.A: The Third and Final Report-1978

This is dark, frightening and overall enlightening.  Throbbing Gristle is an Avant-Garde Industrial band that formed in the late Seventies and is still making music.  The track 'Hamburger Lady' should frighten you and make you want to hide in a corner like a small child would from shadows at night.  Get ready to start with the band that started off genres of Noise, Drone, Industrial and Avant-Garde.

Animal Collective- Feels- 2005

Well to start off I will say this is our generation's Pink Floyd, yes this has been said by many different music sources but it's the definite truth.  Experimental music at it's finest.  I guess I can easily describe this album of being very light hearted and up beat.  Awesome drum beats, good ambient music in the background, great guitar riffs, and interesting lyrics and vocal work.  This is a definite album to check out.

The Books- Lost and Safe- 2005

Welcome to an ambient experience created from guitars, cellos, and different audio clips from various sources.  The Books bring a new meaning to Indie music and I personally feel that they are pure experimental.  I saw them live earlier in 2010 in Columbus, Ohio and it was a spectacle of fantastic music and intriguing visuals being played in the background,  I also got the first taste of their newest album 'The Way Out.'  Open your mind and let the free flow of this magnanimous band play through your soul.

Lightning Bolt - Wonderful Rainbow - 2003

It's quite a dubious exercise to appreciate Lightning Bolt in just one genre of music. Wonderful Rainbow is DnB at it's finest, and although it's mainly rock-influenced, it shares both genres equally. The vocals are an afterthought for the conscious listener, but without even the high pitched singing/yelling the melody would affect the listener in such a way that one could not do without. The songs flow quite nicely in a chaotic sorta way, with a vanity that only Noise Rock can bring us. Pure beauty.

The xx - xx - 2009

Indie rock has become the front runner in modern day rock, and that is all fine and good as long as they
don't sound like Modest Mouse or Pavement. The xx sounds like anything but. Hailing from the UK with Cure-style riffs and simple beats, you feel like a true romantic with a heart of granite. The vocals swoon in and out, with both male and female leads that sound heartbroken but not bitter. With 11 tracks, it's quite a quick listen, but that's perfectly ok, because if you were to listen to any more, you'd probably lose track of how you truly feel in the moment.

Theories

      Where did human beings evolve from exactly?  It's theorized that we evolved from apes, but where did the apes evolve from?  Well obviously it all began with single celled organisms such as: bacteria and viruses; then we had multi-celled organisms so on so forth.  My belief is that the homo-sapien is evolved from a virus.

      Look at the human race and how we act.  We are generally a violent species, examples include: creating wars over nothing, killing innocent animals for sport, having contests such as UFC and earlier on, Gladiators.  We also have inhabited almost every bit of the Earth to provide our resources; we strip one area down and move to the next and we continue this cycle on and on and on until there is nothing left and the Earth is nothing but a desert, granted that is going a bit far but you get the idea.  We really are almost a cancer to the planet, we just continue to spread and wreak havoc wherever we go whether it be to each other, animals, or mother nature herself.

       Now, shall I ask this?  What exactly does a virus do?  Well more or less we get infected with some sort of strain and pow, we become ill or worse case scenario, we die.  A virus starts in one spot of the body and moves to another but I guess this is also known as cancer.  It takes up everything in that one spot and moves to another and then another and then another creating our bodies to completely fail.  It is nothing but a violent circumstance in whatever way you look at it, this is a full on war in our bodies.  Take this same scenario and flip it to humans are the virus and the planet is a human body.  Almost the exact same situation.

       This would explain why we do the things we do.  This explains the whys behind why we want to harm each other and tear this world apart.   Even with all of our intelligent minds out there, we cannot stop our natural tendencies that are built into us.  We are surrounded by it and totally immersed and slowly we are De-evolving or some may say it is evolving into what soon will be us relying on machines to take care of us, to control us and to run us.  We are steadily heading this way, can anyone say "Welcome to the Matrix."

 

Metal Fingers - Special Herbs, Vol. 1 & 2 - 2001

Metal Fingers is an alternate moniker of MF Doom, the Special Herbs series started in 2001 and this starts the beginning of it all with Vol. 1 & 2. The tracks have elements of jazz, funk, experimental and obviously hip-hop.  Interesting thing about this series, it is all instrumental unlike most of Doom's work where he MCs in most of it.  It is a very relaxing and encompassing album, it flows freely and you can sit and listen to this for hours on end. Overall, if you like great beats and great production, this is for you.  Get ready to enjoy a relaxing listening experience or play it at a major party or wherever the fuck you are at.

Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy - 1997

IDM found its' true face in Aphex Twin, and that face was creepy as shit. With Come to Daddy, the seminal EP from Aphex Twin, its' quite imaginative and inurface kinda spectacular electronic music that simply isn't made too often, if ever. The first track is nearly straight noise music with distorted devilish lyrics. But as that song ends, the Whos down in Whoville began to sing as Flim quickly careens its' way into view. The entire album has many different elements in it, from striking violins to deep bass lines. Aphex Twin showcases his true talents in one of his greatest works.

Aesop Rock - Float - 2000 BC

Aesop Rock brings us his second full length LP with Float, an album so full of pipe dreams and complex ways of figuring out fairly simple issues. As far as rhymes go, Aesop Rock is one of the top contenders in underground hip hop for the last 10 years. Albeit a man so full of apathy that his voice alone crones the meaning of life with cynicism. The 20 tracks flow freely, the beats are considerably minimalistic, and Blockhead and Aesop Rock's production works more than most mainstream producers. The strings and the brass sing perfectly in unison with funky and bluesy bass-lines, creating an abstract vibe. Proactively, the production and lyrics have grown since Music For Earthworms and Appleseed, and although his previous efforts could very well be seen as good, if not better, they simply do not have the same impact.

The impact is like: Labor Days by Aesop Rock, First Born by Eyedea and Abilities, Violent by Design by Jedi Mind Tricks
